| The Incorporated Trustees of the Gospel Worker Society is a nonprofit organization that publishes nondenominational, fundamental Christian literature. The first seed of this endeavor was planted in 1895 under the direction of the Reverend William Brunner Musselman, a Mennonite preacher from Pennsylvania, who then was presiding elder of his Conference. Since its early beginnings, Union Gospel Press has expanded both its facilities and its materials. It is widely known that we still publish the finest in Bible-based Sunday school materials and teaching aids. "Christian Life Series" literature, based on the Uniform Sunday School Lesson Series, is graded for all ages from beginner to adult. All teaching materials in our Sunday school curriculum are correlated so that the whole family can discuss and study each week's lesson. This system gives families the opportunity for excellent daily family devotions.
Young people and adults find a wealth of in-depth Bible study materials that will help them as they meet the challenges of going to college, getting married, and establishing homes.
The "Christian Life Series" also offers graded take-home papers that are brightly illustrated and that bring the teachings of the Scriptures into the home through sound Christian articles and stories. In addition, our Sunday school curriculum includes a special quarterly for Sunday school superintendents and one for people who cannot attend Sunday school regularly. The Incorporated Trustees of the Gospel Worker Society are still able to offer Union Gospel Press materials at low, affordable prices, and our material does not contain advertisements, which gives us space for articles and editorials that offer hints, instructions, and guidance on how to handle various situations in the Sunday school classes or departments.
The Incorporated Trustees of the Gospel Worker Society agrees that we must depend on the Lord's guidance as we make plans for improvements and modernization techniques that will affect the activities of the Corporation in the future. The largest change that is projected for the future will take place in the current Gospel Worker Society Home Building. Even now, with ever-expanding needs in the Union Gospel Press building, changes are being made in the Home Building to prepare for the time when we will need to use more of the building to accommodate the publishing needs of the bulging Press building. The missionary ladies, who at one time did all the work in Union Gospel Press, have always had living quarters in the Gospel Worker Society Home Building. Most of the ladies are now with the Lord, and the few who still live in the building are being cared for by a private nursing staff. Portions of the building that are not now being used as living quarters are being used for Union Gospel Press executive offices, the payroll department, accounts payable, and storage for Union Gospel Press publication files. Eventually the building will be used totally for Union Gospel Press publishing activities. We also are continually reviewing new ways to improve our Sunday school publications without compromising the biblical, moral, and ethical standards of those who founded this ministry. Union Gospel Press materials have a unique and recognizable appearance. We want to maintain that appearance so that our readers will identify the uniqueness with the high quality of the biblically oriented lesson study material. Union Gospel Press art requirements are conservative. We request our artists to portray women and girls in dresses or blouses with short or long sleeves, knee-length or longer skirts, and no jewelry except watches or wedding rings. Artists are asked to depict men in sport, casual, or dress shirts and never in shorts. Our policy is to present adults and children in light of biblical admonitions that encourage acceptably modest styles without being critical of any current styles that might be acceptable to our readers. In response to a number of inquiries, we enlarged the size of the type that is in our adult publications. We will continue to encourage our readers to offer suggestions, and we always want to be mindful of improvements that are possible for us to make. If a reader's suggestion is too costly or if it is not efficient or possible for us to attempt with our equipment, we cannot follow through with that suggestion. Each suggestion, however, is carefully considered. We always are eager to offer our readers the most comprehensive and authoritative materials. As you can see, Union Gospel Press retains its fine traditions of yesterday, publishes the best Christian literature available today, and continues to look for better ways to serve you tomorrow. | TOP OF PAGE | |
